Lyndon B. Johnson High School (Laredo, Texas)
Lyndon B. Johnson High School is a secondary school located in Laredo, Texas, United States. L.B.Johnson is a part of the United Independent School District, and it serves a portion of south Laredo and the neighboring cities of El Cenizo and Rio Bravo.
==Background==
Lyndon B. Johnson opened in 2001 with its first graduating class in 2005. Its colors are purple, black, and gold.
On June 4, 2014, two LBJ students were caught on video surveillance for allegedly smearing paint and writing graffiti on school property. Graffiti placed on a school or public monument is a state jail felony in Texas if the loss is under $20,000. Some thirty students and staff spent hours trying to clean up the vandalism. No arrests were immediately made when the alleged offenders were detained by campus police.〔Judith Rayo, "United Independent School District: LBJ vandalized: Video shows two male suspects", ''Laredo Morning Times'', June 5, 2014, pp. 1, 12A〕
Five UISD schools, including LBJ High School, fell short of minimum state standards in 2014 and have been placed on the Public Education Grant list. Three other high schools of the Laredo Independent School District, Martin High School, J. W. Nixon High School, and Cigarroa High School, were also deemed deficient, as were a number of middle and elementary schools.〔Judith Rayo, "17 schools fall short", ''Laredo Morning Times'', January 15, 2015, p. 1〕
